Masters Program

A Master's degree in education is offered in cooperation with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Our Programs

Our Programs are conveniently located at schools with year-round class schedules for children six weeks of age to twelve years and ideally suits the education programs offered. Surrounded by children, these locations provide an excellent training environment which has a complete set of age appropriate Montessori materials. Major curriculum areas are presented during the summer academic phase, with a nine month teaching practicum. Our programs not only serve the student in basic training, but also are sources for continuing educational advancement and support once the student enters the teaching profession.

The Curriculum

The Infant and Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary I and I-II curriculums include lecture periods on Montessori philosophy, educational theory and practice, presentations, supervised practical sessions with special materials, observations and practice teaching in Montessori classrooms under the supervision of course staff.

Our Faculty

Our instructors are dedicated professionals with extensive classroom experience. Their goal is to blend the student's understanding with the needs of the child to the Montessori environment. Our staff members represent a broad variety of schools from various locations around the United States; small, large, public, private, urban and suburban. This offers the trainee a variety of teaching styles so that they may observe, choose and internalize a style that will work for them.

Our Commitment

As a student teacher enrolled in our program, you will have continual communication with a Montessori teacher in a classroom. You'll learn to build trusting relationships with children and to create environments which present a wide array of interactive experiences. Most importantly, you'll learn strategies to support and facilitate each child's development during those special wonder years. Our teachers are helping to develop autonomous, competent, caring, responsible individuals, not merely children with the "right" answers.

In our schools, Dr. Montessori's developmentally appropriate approach is designed to fit each child, instead of making each child fit the program. As a Montessori teacher, you will foster the maximum development of each child's abilities. You will set the stage and serve as a multi-faceted resource person.

The children will do the rest.

Practicum and employment sites are available in Omaha, Denver and Fort Worth.
